Wild Elderberries

Now is the time of year to pick Elderberries they can easily be found growing in the wild, along canal paths and hedgerows. That’s if you haven’t stripped the tree of it’s fragrant white flowers earlier in the year! The dark blue/black berries are abundant right now and can be used in many different ways. They make great Jellies, Jams, Cordials, Syrups and Wine that can be made now and used over the winter months
Always be sure to remove the stem from the berry as it contains a mildly, toxic alkaloid that becomes harmless when cooked and it is recommended not eat the berries raw.

Don’t let this put you off as the Elderberry is very good for you and is often used as a Cold and Flu remedy due to its extremely high vitamin C content. We can usually source them for you with 24hrs notice.
