Fruit & Vegetable Market Report December 1st 2015
With a few exceptions, prices are not too bad. English Cauliflowers are huge and plentiful so prices have been kept in touch for this time of year. Spanish Broccoli was expected to rise but that too has remained the same. English Savoy Cabbage are a good hefty size at the moment. Mange-Toute & Sugar Snaps remain in short supply so prices are still high, so too is the African Tender Stem Broccoli. We have now moved onto French Spinach as the English & Italian are no longer any good. Brussels Tops and Brussels on the Stem are available.
There seems to be no let up on the Strawberriesas they remain expensive. There are a fewCherries available, but their quality does not match their extortionate price. Pomegranates are a good size and reasonably priced. Lemons have eased but there is still a lack of supply so prices could go back up? English Braeburn Apples are excellent from M. J. Eastwood in Tonbridge, Kent. South African Peaches & Nectarines are available, but are still a bit immature and small. We are also expecting Apricots to arrive shortly.
